Nature and scope of Financial Advice services

We have been providing Financial Advice services to dental health professionals and clients since 1999. Dental Insurance Services provides Financial Advice about life & health insurance, fire & general insurance and investments (including KiwiSaver).

We only provide Financial Advice about products from certain providers. These include: AIA, AMP, Asteron Life, Chubb Life, Fidelity Life, Partners Life, nib, Southern Cross, AON, ANZ and NZ Dental Insurance Society Ltd.

Fees or Expenses

Dental Insurance Services does not charge fees, expenses or any other amount for Financial Advice unless these are agreed to in advance with the client.

Conflicts of Interest and Other Incentives

Dental Insurance Services receive commissions from providers on whose products we give Financial Advice (insurers, investment and KiwiSaver providers). From time to time, product providers may also recognise us for the overall business we provide to them and they may provide CRM services, give us tickets to sports events, hampers etc.

We will provide you with further information regarding the commission we may receive if you seek Financial Advice from us.

We have a conflicts of interest policy and procedure, including a register of any conflicts of interest. We maintain and monitor this register.

Duties information

Anyone who gives Financial Advice, has duties under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 relating to the way the advice is given.

Dental Insurance Services is required to:

Give priority to your interests by taking all reasonable steps to make sure their advice isn’t materially influenced by their own interests

Exercise care, diligence, and skill in providing you with advice

Meet standards of competence, knowledge and skill set by the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services (these are designed to make sure that they have the expertise needed to provide you with advice)

Meet standards of ethical behaviour, conduct and client care set by the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services (these are designed to make sure they treat you as they should, and give you suitable advice). Complaints handling and Dispute Resolution Scheme

If you have a problem, concern, or complaint about any part of our service, please tell us so that we can try to fix the problem. You can contact us by phone on 021 509 758 or 021 448 856 or by email on karen@disl.co.nz.

If we cannot agree on how to fix the issue we are members of an external resolution/complaints service provider Financial Services Complaints Ltd (FSCL) - A Financial Ombudsman Service. You can contact this service which will cost you nothing, and will help us resolve any disagreements.
